Room 702 (band; high ceiling) has grime on the air supply diffusers. Work order 240049. The supply air diffuser in the hallway between room 909 and storage/utility room has visible dust accumulation. School custodial staff is to clean diffuser of visible dust.

Room 304 has 3 of 4 air supply diffusers with their louvers closed. The louvers of the air supply diffusers were closed in room 918. The louvers to the supply diffuser in the hallway between room 909 and storage closet were closed. This may be reduce air volume into the spaces, impact thermal comfort, and/or unevenly distribute the air. In addition, it is causing noise that may interfere with instruction. Work order 240049.

The tops of student lockers in hallways throughout the school had moderate dust accumulation. School custodial staff to clean the tops of the lockers. The thermostat in room 918 was partially obstructed with a laminated sanitation sign (using a magnetic clip). School administration is to inform staff not to obstruct airflow to thermostat since this may cause thermal discomfort issues. The thermostat in room 911 may be negatively impacted by surrounding items (mini refrigerator and coffee/hot water pot) that cast off warm air. Unless these appliances are necessary for class instruction they are to be removed from the room. If necessary, then they are to be moved away from the thermostat. School administration is to discuss with staff and address as necessary.
No stained or damage ceiling tiles
Yes
Work Order Closed by Building Maintenance
Room 702 (band; high ceiling) has a few stained ceiling tiles (not a suspended ceiling; 1' x 1' tiles attached to a substrate). Work order 240051. A ceiling tile was bowed out from its grid in portable 228. Water stained ceiling tiles were observed in the FACS storage room, room 514, and hallway above locker #1228 (across from room 305 and ceiling grid labeled with VAV valve). If not already being addressed, custodial staff is to submit a work order to Building Maintenance to assess and correct source of the leak.
No visible mold present (walls, cabinets, under sinks, behind posters)
Yes
Relative Humidity
Not above 70%
Yes
Work Order Closed by Building Maintenance
The inspection consisted of two days. On the early morning on 6/14/2022, weather was 73 degrees, 91% relative humidity, and 71 degree dew point with approaching thunderstorms. All selected areas inspected inside the building (with exception 601 and 603, last rooms inspected) and all portables (with exception to portable 218) were above 70% which is expected based on time of day, HVAC operation, and weather. However, portables were in question as to thermostat / HVAC fan mode setting. There were signs of school staff possibly tampering with thermostat settings. Portable 218 had a post-it note indicating not to touch thermostat and the tamper cover was able to be lifted although locked. Portable 140 thermostat tamper cover lifts up although locked and was set to 70 degrees cooling (too low) and with fan mode assumed to be positioned to on. As a result of thermostat setting and weather, portable 140 had condensate forming on the floor tile and other hard surfaces. Building Maintenance will review settings of portable thermostats per work order 240049. School administration is to inform custodial and teaching staff not to access thermostats and adjust settings (fan mode and temperature settings) which can result in the potential for mold growth under certain conditions, particularly in the summer months.

A readily accessible and unlabeled spray bottle (containing clear liquid) was observed in portable 195. Aerosol disinfectant spray was observed in room 918. School administration is to inform staff to use spray bottles only containing a HCPSS custodial product and with an affixed manufacturer label. If water, the bottle should be labeled as such. Otherwise product is to be removed. Aerosol disinfectants are not permitted since they can be an airborne irritant to other individuals.
