The Office of the Environment recommended that after the leak has been repaired to:
- Remove the impacted kickplate and cove base due to a likely extended period of elevated moisture.
- After the kickplate has been removed, assess any other wood components now visible since the kick plate has been removed. If feasible, remove impacted matierals. If not feasible, impacted components would need to be cleaned, dried, and then encapsulated prior reinstalling a new kick plate.
- Re-adhere or replace the delaminated portion of the countertop to prevent water from entering.
- Clean/remove the debris from the cavity between the sink and the wall.
