Room 161 does not appear to have means of returning / exhausting air. Work order 190968. The thermostat in portable 128 is missing a tamper proof cover. Work order 190968. Three portable air cleaners were observed during the inspection (media, guidance, and front office). They were Air Doctor model AD3000 which have HEPA & charcoal filters and an ion generator (separate control button). It is assumed the school placed them out due to COVID concerns. The Office of Environment does not recommend the use of air cleaners in general. The Office of Environment does not believe HEPA and charcoal filtered units introduce additional IEQ concerns, but others can, such ion generators. Ion generators typically are to produce and emit charged particles that as a result can attract deeper down the respiratory tract and attracts to surfaces (increases housekeeping). If units remain, inform and prevent staff from activating the ion generator option.
