  • inspection of exterior
  • inspection below drop ceiling (housekeeping, sink and floor drain traps, signs of past and present moisture concern via visual and/or moisture meter, mold growth, ensure connection of current and capping of abandoned sanitary vents, odorizers, excessive plants and fabric items, identify potential pathways, and measure volatile organic compounds, carbon monoxide, and lighting)
Findings

Date(s) of Assessment: February 8, 2019

Mold growth was observed on the handles of golf clubs and the tape around the field hockey sticks.

The golf clubs and field hockey sticks were stored in brutes.

There is a cabinet heater above the brutes which reportedly leaked, filling the brutes up with water.

The water was reported to have never been emptied. It appears the golf clubs and field hockey sticks were never properly dried.

The cabinet heater was reported to have been repaired after the leak occurred.

Corrective Actions
February 8th, 2019

It is recommended that the equipment be discarded. However, insurance may or may not cover the cost of replacement. If the school chooses to keep the equipment, a thorough cleaning will be necessary. This would include removing and discarding the tape around the hockey sticks and the rubber handles on the golf clubs. The remainder of the equipment can be wiped with a rag and Custodial Service's generic cleaner (Q-128 or similar).
